The garden centre was established over 60 years ago by Nick and Ellie Birkengren. At the time, it was the first and only garden centre in the area. Nick was a good friend of Dennis Washburn, the original head gardener at the Stratford Festival. Sebringville Garden Centre was the plant supplier to the Festival for many years. When Nick decided to retire twenty five years after starting the garden centre, he sold the business to Horst Schaff. Horst, and his wife Nancy, continued with the business for another twenty five years. In 2001, Horst and Nancy sold the garden centre to Steve and Sue Coxon. Steve and Sue and their children, Stephanie and Brandon, moved to Sebringville from Stratford, and ran the Garden Centre for the next 14 years.  In the summer of 2015, Sheila, Carolyn and Steve Wolfgram purchased Sebringville Garden Centre from the Coxons.
